Ben Hammond Office - Power and Water Corporation

Since Power and Water Corporation occupied the historical and former train repair Ben Hammond site, they have slowly redeveloped it to suit their needs. The constant growth of the NT along with the restructure of Power and Water Corporation saw a subsequent increase in staff, resulting in the need for additional staff accommodation. The existing offices in the CBD were becoming inadequate and a new office facility had to be built. In order to eliminate negative impacts to the environment and to concentrate the majority of Power and Water staff and facilities in one area, the Ben Hammond Complex provided the best site to ensure better communication and improved accessibility to staff and the public.

With energy and water efficiency and sustainability as the driving factor for the design and operation of the new office building, the new Power and Water office building sets a new precedent for commercial design and construction in Darwin.
